History

The USAF Airman Heritage Museum opened at Lackland Air Force Base in the mid-1950s as the History and Traditions Museum, one of the satellite museums of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. It collects, preserves and interprets the history, heritage and traditions of the Air Force enlisted corps, with exhibits on Basic Military Training from 1947 to the present and thousands of artifacts on loan from the national museum. In 2014 it became part of the Airman Heritage Training Complex.
