History

Texarkana Union Station was built in 1928 and opened for business in 1930 on the Texas-Arkansas state line, constructed by a trust jointly created by the Missouri Pacific, Texas & Pacific, Cotton Belt, and Kansas City Southern railroads. Missouri Pacific chief architect E. M. Tucker designed the building with an overhead concourse recalling his rebuilt Little Rock Union Depot. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and still serves Amtrak passengers.
