History

This 10-acre county park west of Angleton honors Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of Texas," and sits on land once part of Austin's original Mexican land grant. Its centerpiece is a 76-foot statue of Austin by Texas sculptor David Adickes, accompanied by a visitor center, picnic grounds, and a Texas-shaped catch-and-release fishing pond. Opened as Brazoria County's first county-run historic site, it is the product of a private-public partnership funded by local residents.
