History

Douglas Cemetery lies about two miles southwest of the old Bullard School in northern Cherokee County and is a private burial ground reserved for the Douglas family and its relatives. Unlike most rural cemeteries in the county, it is enclosed by a locked double fence of brick pillars and wrought iron and is noted for its ornate white-marble monuments, some bearing nearly life-size statuary. The Cherokee County Genealogical Society published a survey of the cemetery in 1997.
