History

Tillman Cemetery is the chief remnant of the Tillman community, which was settled after the Civil War on Farm Road 747 in west-central Cherokee County and had a post office from 1888 to 1890. The small, well-kept family cemetery holds burials dating to the late 1800s from families such as the Bozarths, Gibsons, Goffs, Rawls, and Tillmans. By the 1990s the cemetery was nearly all that remained of the once-active community.
