History
The Collingsworth County Courthouse in Wellington was built in 1931 of rough brown-and-orange brick trimmed with carved white limestone, blending Texas Renaissance forms with Art Deco detailing, including carved figures set into its stone entrances. It replaced an earlier courthouse dating to 1893 and coincided with the arrival of the Fort Worth and Denver Northern Railway. The three-story building still anchors the county square and serves as the seat of county government.
