History

Borden Cemetery serves the old community of Borden, four miles northeast of Weimar in southwestern Colorado County. The settlement—earlier called Harvey's Creek Settlement—was renamed for Gail Borden, Jr., founder of the Borden Milk Company, who after the Civil War built homes there and in 1872-73 established the Borden Meat Preserving Company. A post office operated at Borden from 1874 until 1905.
