History

The New Braunfels Railroad Museum occupies the 1907 International & Great Northern railroad depot, built where the I&GN first reached the town in 1880. The New Braunfels Historic Railroad and Modelers Society, chartered in 1985, leased the closed depot in 1986 and restored it largely with volunteer labor. Exhibits include a full-size locomotive, caboose, Pullman car, model railroads, and the historic Joske's department store Christmas layout.
