History
The Santa Fe Depot Museum in Gainesville occupies a red-brick Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad depot built about 1902 to handle the town's growing rail traffic. The building housed a Harvey House restaurant until 1931, and Gainesville had become one of the state's major rail centers by the end of the 19th century. Its exhibits feature railroad, Harvey Girls, Coca-Cola and Gainesville Community Circus memorabilia, and a Texas Historical Commission marker was placed at the depot in 1983.
