History

Crosbyton Cemetery was established in 1909 on land that was once part of the 90,000-acre ranch of the C. B. Livestock Company. Julian Bassett, a part owner of the company and donor of the Crosbyton townsite, gave the land for the burial ground when a ranch cowboy, James Boggs, was thought to be dying; the first person actually interred was 18-month-old Willie Oliver. Bassett himself and many early settlers of the Crosby County seat are buried here, and the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker at the cemetery in 1984.
