History

The Number 4 Hook and Ladder Company at Cedar Springs Road and Reagan Street was built in 1909 and is notable as Dallas's first "suburban" fire station. Designed by prominent Dallas architect Herbert M. Greene of gray brick with ornamental stonework and a Spanish red-tile roof, it is one of the last public buildings in the city built in the Prairie School style, with Mission/Spanish Revival touches. Also known as the Oak Lawn Station and Fire Station No. 11, it was a City Historic Landmark from 1978 and listed on the National Register in 1981.
