History

Oak Lawn Methodist Episcopal Church, South (now Oak Lawn United Methodist Church) at 3014 Oak Lawn Avenue traces its congregation to 1874, when Rev. Marcus H. Cullum organized it in a grove on Turtle Creek. The present Late Gothic Revival brick building, rich in art glass and terra cotta work, was built between 1911 and 1915 and later enlarged in 1928 and 1950. It was added to the National Register in 1988.
