History

Midway Cemetery is associated with the rural Midway community in southeastern Dawson County, roughly twelve miles southeast of Lamesa. The community was named for its position midway between the Mount Olive and Mullins schools, and its residents organized what became the Midway Baptist Church, erecting a church building in 1923. By 1940 Midway had a church, a cemetery, a cotton gin, and scattered farm dwellings.
