History

The Bayless-Selby House is an 1898 Queen Anne Victorian home and Denton County's first historic house museum, now sited in Denton's Historical Park. Samuel and Mary Bayless bought a two-room farmhouse at 1301 Myrtle Street in 1884 and added the two-story Victorian section beginning in 1898 for their five children; the Selby family owned it from 1920 until 1970. After being auctioned in 1998 and donated for restoration, the house was moved to the park and opened as a museum, furnished to depict turn-of-the-century Denton life.
