History
Romney Lutheran Cemetery, north of Rising Star in Eastland County, began with the founding of Zion Lutheran Church at Romney in 1903 on five acres donated by Henry Massmann. Two Lutheran families, the Lukers and the Massmanns, built a chapel and set aside adjoining land for burials. The Zion congregation disbanded in 1928, but the cemetery is still used today and received Historic Texas Cemetery designation in 2012.
