History

The McCanless–Williams House in Ennis is a contributing property in the Historic Resources of Ennis Multiple Resource Area, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The McCanless name recalls builder Hix McCanless, who constructed a number of Ennis's early homes and for whom the town's Templeton–McCanless Residential Historic District is partly named.
