History

Garrett Cemetery was established in 1851 in the original Blue Ridge community of Falls County on land given by Thomas McKissick Garrett, who selected the site. It served as the community burial ground for nearly two decades until the Stranger churches and cemetery were founded in 1869; Garrett, his daughter Mary Elizabeth Erskine, and a family servant were among the first buried there.
