History

This Sacred Heart Cemetery is tied to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Lott, a parish founded by German Catholic families in the early 1900s. After the congregation acquired land in 1905 and dedicated its sanctuary in 1906, it established a burial ground northeast of town in 1907, the same year the parish added a rectory and school. Rev. B. C. Pfiffner, who had traveled monthly from Marlin to say Mass for the seven founding families, served as the first pastor.
