History
After two earlier churches were lost to the 1909 hurricane and a 1917 fire, this Gothic Revival wooden church, designed by architect Leo M. J. Dielmann, was completed in 1919 for Ammannsville's German and Czech Catholic community. Its rosy-pink painted interior, attributed to decorative painter Fred Donecker, is among the most purely ornamental of the Texas painted churches. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
