History

The Texas Quilt Museum opened November 13, 2011, in a restored 1890s furniture-store building within sight of the Fayette County courthouse in La Grange. It was cofounded by Karey Bresenhan and Nancy O'Bryant Puentes, authors of the Lone Stars Texas quilt histories and founders of Houston's International Quilt Festival, who wanted a year-round home to display quilts. Its three galleries total about 10,000 square feet, and the museum won a 2012 Preservation Texas award for restoring the historic buildings.
