History

The Texas Heroes Museum in La Grange is housed in the old Fayette County Jail, a Victorian Gothic stone building that opened in 1883 and served the county for 102 years. The museum honors those who have defended Texas from the Texas Revolution through present-day conflicts and first responders, and displays replicas of Texas Revolution-era weapons and equipment. It stands near the 1891 Romanesque Revival Fayette County Courthouse on the downtown square.
