History

Hobbs Cemetery near Rotan preserves the memory of the Hobbs community in Fisher County, which took its name from Roby postmaster Vachel Hobbs Anderson. In the early 1900s residents Robert and Ann Hayter donated the land for the cemetery, and the first burial was that of Indiana native Thomas J. Bone (1833-1906); the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker here in 1986.
