History

Loop Cemetery serves the small ranching community of Loop in northeastern Gaines County, about eight miles east of Seagraves. First settled around 1905 and given its present name—after a cowboy's rope trick—when the post office was approved in 1912, the community also established its school that year; the cemetery, a short distance south of State Highway 83, holds several hundred marked graves.
