History
This marker stands near Stonewall at the birthplace of Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th president of the United States, who was born on August 27, 1908, in a farmhouse near the Pedernales River. The original dogtrot-style home had been built in the 1880s by LBJ's grandfather. In 1964 President Johnson had the birthplace reconstructed on its original site, and it is now preserved within Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.
