History
The Leesville Schoolhouse is a one-room brick schoolhouse built in 1868 when Leesville was a thriving trade center in Gonzales County. Its red clay bricks were fired at a nearby kiln, its lumber came from the Daniel Brown Sawmill on O'Neill Creek, and local residents supplied the labor. Classes were held until 1918, after which the building served as a community center for oyster fries, barbecues, and civic gatherings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
