History

Leesville, first called Leesburg, was founded in 1874 by Newburn H. Guinn and named for his daughter Lee; the U.S. Postal Service renamed it Leesville, recognized by state law in 1891. The community's cemetery sits behind the Leesville Baptist Church on FM 1682, at the town's historic center.
