History

Pecan Branch Cemetery, also known as the Pecan Branch–Smith Cemetery, sits on land donated in 1850 by Isham and Elizabeth Hodges Smith about five and a half miles southwest of Gonzales, on the west side of Pecan Branch. It is one of the older rural burial grounds in the county, with graves spanning generations of area families. The cemetery was formally inventoried in 1975 by local genealogists.
