History

Nixon Cemetery serves the town of Nixon, which was established in 1907 along the railroad in western Gonzales County. The Nixon Cemetery Association was formally organized in 1916, though graves in the southern part of the grounds predate that date, from a time when area families more often buried their dead on surrounding ranches. The cemetery has grown to include thousands of burials and remains an active community burial ground.
