History

Hillcrest Cemetery is the principal burial ground of McLean, a railroad town in eastern Gray County about 78 miles east of Amarillo along the old Route 66 corridor. It is notable for an unusual wagon-wheel plan, with plots and rows radiating like spokes from a central hub, and it has grown to more than three thousand graves. The cemetery reflects McLean's development through the twentieth century in the eastern Texas Panhandle.
