History

Hale Center Cemetery serves the town of Hale Center in central Hale County, a community that took shape in 1893 when the rival settlements of Hale City and Epworth, both founded in 1891, merged; the new post office was named for its position at the county's center. The cemetery grew with the farming town and today holds well over two thousand documented burials.
