History

Pottsville Cemetery serves the community of Pottsville in Hamilton County, a town that grew up after John S. Potts, an early settler and sheep raiser, arrived in 1872; a post office opened in 1879. The townsite was donated by Edmund T. Goggin, who stipulated that liquor never be sold there. Maintained by an association of descendants, the cemetery holds more than 200 graves, including veterans of conflicts from the Civil War to the Vietnam War.
