History

This burial ground in far western Hamilton County is the Indian Gap Cemetery, serving the community of Indian Gap at the junction of Farm Roads 218 and 1702 — a settlement named for a mountain gap used by Comanche raiders. The cemetery was established in 1896 on land given by John M. Boler and Henry Reinert, and it holds several generations of residents from the town's 19th- and 20th-century heyday. Much of the community dispersed after World War II, but the Indian Gap Cemetery Association still maintains the grounds.
