History

Honey Creek Cemetery grew up near the original site of Hico, which was founded in 1856 on Honey Creek in southern Hamilton County. Local accounts trace its beginning to the burial of William Herrin Reed, who died of smallpox and was interred on Dr. Reed's land; other settlers were later buried at the spot, giving the community cemetery its name.
