History

The Museum of American Architecture and Decorative Arts has been part of Houston Christian University since 1969, when Houston Baptist College began assembling a collection encompassing American architecture, restoration, and decorative arts, with an emphasis on Texas. It moved into the Morris Cultural Arts Center when the building opened in 2007. Exhibits interpret the social history and material culture of Texas settlers between 1830 and 1930, and include the Theo Redwood Blank doll collection and the Schissler miniature-furniture collection.
