Peter Jefferson Duncan (1799-1870), a native of New York, took part in the capture of San Antonio in 1835 and served in the Texas army during the 1836 revolution. This 1936 centennial marker honoring him stands in the De Zavala Cemetery at the San Jacinto Battleground.
