History

The San Felipe Cottage is an 1868 vernacular dwelling that illustrates the architecture of Houston's German working-class immigrants, who lived alongside neighbors from Switzerland, Ireland, and England. Originally standing at 313 San Felipe Road (now West Dallas Street), it was moved to Sam Houston Park in 1962. It is preserved and furnished with period Texas-made pieces as part of The Heritage Society's open-air museum.
