History

Wooster Cemetery served the town of Wooster, laid out in 1892 after Quincy Adams Wooster and Willard D. Crow brought their families from Mapleton, Iowa, and bought more than 1,000 acres in the Nathaniel Lynch League near Baytown. The first burial, in 1894, was Martin E. Wooster. Land subsidence and erosion destroyed the graveyard over the twentieth century; by the late 1980s nothing remained, and the site now lies within the Baytown Nature Center, partly underwater.
