The College of Health Care Professions traces its start to 1988, when physicians of the MacGregor Medical Association, a Houston practice tied to the Texas Medical Center, founded the Academy of Health Care Professions to train allied health staff for their own growing clinics. The Texas Workforce Commission approved it to offer allied health training in 1990, and in 2012 the school took the name The College of Health Care Professions. Its Houston Northwest campus on the Northwest Freeway is one of several CHCP locations across Texas and offers certificate and associate programs in fields such as surgical technology, whose program there holds programmatic accreditation from the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
