History
The Inez Hatley Hughes Historical Research Center is the archival and genealogical arm of the Harrison County Historical Museum, located at 104 East Crockett a few blocks south of the courthouse square in Marshall. It collects and preserves photographs, documents, books, and artifacts related to the history of Harrison County and Texas. The center is named for Inez Hatley Hughes, a retired English teacher who volunteered as the museum's director for more than 25 years, and its holdings include the Star Plant Collection of pre-1916 land abstracts spanning over 65,000 pages.
