History
The William Patillo House in Marshall, built in 1846 for pioneer teaming and transport contractor William Patillo, is the oldest hand-made brick structure in the city. The one-story home has a front gable-and-wing form, walls of hand-made brick of varying shades, and original hard-pine floors, doors, and mantels. Unusual among Harrison County's landmark homes, it was built as an investment and used chiefly as rental property, and was marked in 1965.
