History

Horace Randal (1833-1864) was a West Point graduate who became a Confederate brigade commander in the Trans-Mississippi theater, serving in the Vicksburg Campaign and at Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, and Jenkins' Ferry. He was mortally wounded at Jenkins' Ferry, Arkansas, in April 1864. First buried in Arkansas, his remains were later reinterred in the Old Marshall Cemetery, and Randall County, Texas, was named in his honor.
