History

Sulphur Bluff Cemetery sits in the community of Sulphur Bluff in northeastern Hopkins County, one of the county's earliest settlements. First settled in 1842 on a bluff above the Sulphur River, the community relocated about three miles south to its present site in 1850. The cemetery stands on the north side of FM 71, where the Methodist Protestant Church originally stood inside the present fence line, and it holds well over a thousand graves.
