History

Mt. Bethel Cemetery served the small rural community of Mount Bethel, which lay along State Highway 34 about five miles south of Greenville in central Hunt County. The community, which had its own county school district, took shape by the early 1900s, and 1930s highway maps showed its church, school, and cemetery among the surrounding farms.
