History

The Simmons and Blacks cemeteries are among the oldest burial grounds in Beaumont; together with the later Greenlawn section they were combined into what is now Greenlawn (Community) Cemetery on Gill Street. Of the three consolidated components of this Jefferson County community cemetery, the Simmons ground is the oldest.
