History

This cemetery lies just north of Hebbronville, the seat of Jim Hogg County, which was established in 1883 when rancher James R. Hebbron arranged the sale of land for a townsite along the new railroad. The old Pena train station was moved a mile and a half west to the site and renamed Hebbronville, and the town became county seat in 1913 when Jim Hogg County was organized. By 1963 Hebbronville supported three cemeteries serving its ranching and railroad community.
