History

The Penick-Hughes Company opened as a hardware and mercantile store on January 2, 1900, the same day the town of Stamford was established, and grew into one of its anchor businesses. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 1986 as part of the Stamford Multiple Resource Area, and it was later rehabilitated into an event venue.
