History

The First Baptist Church congregation was organized on February 22, 1900, soon after Stamford's founding, and built its Classical Revival sanctuary in 1908-09. The building is distinguished by pedimented wings on three sides, a central dome, and art-glass windows. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 1986 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1989.
