History

Sacred Heart Cemetery is a Catholic burial ground in Kenedy, historically associated with the town's Mexican-American Catholic community and long known as a place where those unable to afford burial elsewhere could be laid to rest. Kenedy itself grew from an 1886 railroad junction on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass line, and the cemetery is today maintained by volunteers and descendants of those buried there.
