History

The Kenedy Cemetery serves the town of Kenedy, established in 1886 as 'Kenedy Junction' on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway, on land bought by Mifflin Kenedy and named for the railroad's chief benefactor. The junction, where one branch ran toward Corpus Christi and another toward Houston, grew into a busy trade center that incorporated in 1910, and this cemetery holds the town's early railroad-era families.
