History
This raised plantation-style cottage was built between 1853 and 1873, before Terrell was incorporated, and was purchased in 1882 by physician Dr. L. E. Griffith, who was a personal friend of Sam Houston. Reputedly the first home in Kaufman County to have an interior bathroom with running water, it has remained in the same family for generations and is among North Texas's oldest continuously occupied residences.
